Review: Dark Alpha's Passion by Donna Grant

★★★ ½ #DarkAlphasPassion

Returning back to the world of the Reapers, more is revealed and not surprisingly, there is another group looking to fill the power vacuum of the original "OTHERS". Seriously, what is with these constantly hidden groups with world domination plots? Although in this case, I guess art is a mere reflection of reality. Ms. Grant provides at least a possible happily ever after whilst the world as we know it may be going down in flames.

Ruarc is paying for the sins of his father. In a previous book, we met Ruarc as Rordan went undercover to find more about this new group of SIX trying to wipe out the Reapers. Ruarc is pressed into service and gives up everything including the one he loves, Chevonne. For Chevonne, Ruarc has been the one for her and even trying to give it a go with other males has not worked. She still wants answers to why Ruarc left her.

This story moves at a good pace as Chevonne and Ruarc reunite. Their conflict is pretty straightforward and predictable. The reveals, betrayal, and vengeance are all as expected with no surprises. I enjoyed finally seeing the plot of this story arc moving forward. It does feel a little too pat, but it works. I liked how there is loss instead of miraculous saves. The characters were just okay for me. I guess it's because I didn't read the book blurb and was hoping this would be Aisling and Xaneth's story. Both do make a guest appearance generating more questions than answers.

This paranormal romance is recommended to readers who enjoy second chance themes with happily ever afters.

* I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
