I see ghosts. Having ghostly spies to help surveillance and information gathering is a definite boon. In the 3rd book of the Blackbird Files, Jeanette flies off to France for another "vampire" like case. This series is a spin off of the popular Krewe of Hunters. I am still a bit mixed in my feelings on this series.
What I enjoy about this story is the suspense and the solving of crimes. I also really enjoy the psychic aspect of it. What I find absolutely unhinged is the criminals that believe they are vampires or such. Unfortunately, this is less fiction now and more reality. There are people in the world who believe themselves to be this way. So in a way, Ms. Graham is only depicting reality for our entertainment.
The reason why I'm mixed about this new series is that I haven't really found my groove yet with the characters. Jeanette whilst a developed character, she doesn't pull me in. I could take her or leave her. For me, I want to be more invested in the character and what happens to them. Or the story line has to be super solid. When both are lukewarm for me, the story is average. The writing is well done, but doesn't capture my full attention. Perhaps the next book in the series will do more.
