Review: One Dark Kiss by Rebecca Zanetti

Rebecca Zanetti is an automatic read for me. Forget even reading the blurb. Even going in cold, I know I am going to enjoy the book and boy did I. This is the second book in the series and I recommend reading the first book to enjoy this second one better. This is apparently advertised as a dark and twisted fairy tale retold of Snow White. Honestly, unless I was told, I probably wouldn't have picked that up. This story easily stands on its own without mentioning Snow White.

Rosalie is one of a group of women bound together due to their circumstances and also their family drama. She is placed into a difficult situation when she needs to defend Alexei. Alexei who is convicted of a crime he insists he did not commit. This could be straight forward story about proving the innocent of a wrongly convicted man. It is so much more. What I like about Rebecca Zanetti stories is the multiple threads and how she layers her world building. It keeps me engaged with the subplots weaving in and out of the main story arc. She ties her books within a series so well together I wonder how she keeps it all straight. It's amazing.

The character development is excellent. The sexual heat between Rosalie and Alexei is hawt. The family dynamics works so well. Rosalie's posse of crime fighting women makes me happy. This story is a great read and makes me want to read the story of each of the women in this group. I am anticipating great things to happen.

Another item I liked in this story is the crystals. I loved how mystical woohoo concepts are layered on top of high technology. This is different and fresh. Love it! This dark romance is recommended to readers who enjoy rooting for the underdog.
