This review is a long time coming. Christine Feehan books always catch my eye. Her darker series, Torpedo Ink featuring a motorcycle club consisting of survivors from child abuse is hit or miss for me. Whilst this one isn't exactly a full on miss, it did not engage me as much as some of the others. Primarily because the characters now seem to be interchangeable. There theoretically is still a long multiple book arc to take down the sex slavery ring. Not seeing much movement in that one.
Each book is supposed to find the right person for one of the trauma laden biker boys (no girls matched up yet). This is Maestro's turn and he proceeds to make several missteps because his chosen is also under suspicion. Azelie is innocent but we have to play this plot device again so there are several contrived misunderstanding.
The characters were unfortunately a bit forgettable. The chemistry between the two was lukewarm for me. The sex scenes weren't exactly awkward but didn't really do it for me. I do like the heavier kinky sex and these men are all "sexual deviants". But there is just something a little bit off about the sex. This sometimes happens when someone describes kink who has never experienced this specific kind of kink before.
Overall, the story is still well written just feels more like a filler until we can finally bring closure to the multibook arc. I am hoping that will be soon. Recommended for spicy romance readers who like their bad boys.
