Somehow I never finished the review of this book. This series can be summed up in "You are not what I thought you were". This story can be read as a standalone. It may cause a new to this series reader to pick up the rest of the books in this series to get caught up.
What I enjoyed about this book is how nothing is as it appears to be. Jasper is clear with his mission. He also firmly believes what he is doing is correct. What happens when everything you believed in is not as it seems? This cognitive dissonance could have broken a person. Jasper rising up to the occasion and tries to figure out how to "fix" things. He's joined by a scared Willa on the run. The two of them are a sweet pairing who met at the right time and right place. This is fortunate for Willa since without Jasper, things could have become quite dire for her.
I enjoyed the different characters from the previous books showing up in this story. It continues to build a strong community - a community that has been fractured and continues to be sabotaged. Rebuilding trust and determining where the rot comes from will not be easy. I'm eager to see how long it takes for the several different adversaries to be fully revealed and dealt with. This is a wild ride and keeps getting more intense. Recommended for paranormal romance readers who enjoy suspense.
* I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
