Review: Endlessly Yours by Carrie Ann Ryan

When the love of your life and high school sweetheart leaves you in the worst way, by dying, how do you function? Brook's tale is one of sorrow, guilt, and woe. He struggles to keep his wife's dying wish and promise. He adamantly is against it and for years has done exactly the opposite. Oddly enough when his brothers confront him with his behaviour versus what his wife had wanted, it does give him pause. This book can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the entire series.

I am mixed about this story because I enjoyed the happily ever after but I hated what happened to Rory, the woman who slips into Brook's life. It isn't often I feel the man isn't good enough for the woman. In this case, I am thinking no one is good enough for Rory. She has been dealt the worst hand in life. From her family situation to her one night stand with Brooks. The attraction between Brooks and Rory is palpable. Due to all the "it's complicated", Rory experiences a series of unfortunate events, one after another. Seriously, how much more can this poor woman take?

Through this all, Brooks wants to help but if this is the kind of help he gives, I'm not sure I want it. He has all the best of intentions but because of his own mental trauma, he is too hot and cold for me. This makes him undependable. Even if I understand why he behaves the way he does to Rory, it isn't okay for me. I started to like him less and less instead of more. Still, at the end, he does redeem himself.

This contemporary romance is about resilience and second chances. Recommended to readers who love angst and happily ever afters.
