★★★★ Storm Lords #MarieHarte

This series should be read together and in the order it is written. These fancy new covers pulled me in. The Storm Lords has been on my TBR pile for years. I finally picked up all 5 books and I read one after another over a weekend. It was glorious! My review is with the series overall. On Goodreads I have some thoughts placed for each book.

Overall, this series gave me everything I needed during this time of turmoil. We have magic, death, good versus evil, and above all . . . balance. I like how Dark and Shadow are explained here as the series unfolds. I also like how those who are Light are not pure and good. Races are different and this is okay. I like how biases are explored and then resolved or at least acknowledged. Each brother is different yet they hold similar values. Their fears and hang ups are relatable. From a character perspective, I may not have liked all of them, but I enjoyed reading about them. I like how Ms. Harte creates flawed characters who grow into their own.

From a world building view, I loved it. I like this world and I found it to be right up my alley. I like how it references Fae without specifically naming it. I like how the kingdoms and different realms were structured. Ms. Harte makes it her own with a fresh look.

Each book pulled me in deeper into this world and I liked it more and more. The final book was the best for me because it was a long time coming. The big reveals as well as the poignant moments is what made the book so good. This series is recommended to paranormal romance readers who are want to see balance and empathy at work.
